The Topps Company is set to release its 2023 baseball card series in December 2022, continuing its tradition as the largest and longest-running manufacturer of baseball trading cards. The Topps flagship release will again feature the entire MLB roster across base and insert sets, with variations, parallels, rookie cards and autographs that collectors seek to complete their collections.
Some key highlights of what to expect in the 2023 Topps baseball card set include:
Base Cards – The core base card checklist will again number in the hundreds, featuring current and former MLB players. Base cards will be available in both traditional and photo variations. Parallel versions include Gold (#/2022), Silver (#/2022) and Black (#/2022).
Rookie Cards – Top rookies from the 2022 MLB season will receive their first Topps cards, including likely top picks like Druw Jones, Elijah Green and Jackson Holliday. Key rookies to watch for include Oneil Cruz, Spencer Torkelson and Adley Rutschman among many others.

Autograph Cards – On-card and memorabilia autographs will be sprinkled throughout packs, with parallels and serial numbering determining rarity levels. Top young stars and veterans will be featured along with popular retired legends.
Variations – Traditional parallel variations include Gold (#/2022), Orange (#/2022), Purple (#/2022) and Red (#/2022). Additional variations planned include Negative and Sepia photo parallels plus Team-Colored parallels for each MLB franchise.
Stadium Club – The premier “stadium style” subset will return with bigger cards highlighting stunning action photos from the season. Insert sets involve iconic moments captured on large format cards. Rarer parallels and autographs come as serially numbered parallels.
Opening Day – A smaller stand-alone set released in March 2023 will capture Opening Day photos from across MLB. Rated rookies and stars leading their teams out of the dugouts make for dramatic packaging visuals. Parallels and variations add to its collector interest.
Allen & Ginter – Baseball’s relationship with other sports and entertainment continues through the A&G subset. Boxed Baseball editions feature significant MLB stars mixed with other cross-over subjects of interest to collectors. On-card autographs and rare serially numbered cards are inserted at extremely low odds.
While digital releases have grown in usage among newer collectors, Topps remains committed to the traditional wax box experience. 2023 will see the flagship set distributed through Target, Walmart, hobby shops and other major mass retailers starting in December.
